Bazm e Liqa
Bazm e Liqa (Mystic Assembly for the Vision of the Beloved) is an arts and cultural promotion society aiming particularly at preservation and development of Sufi Music tradition among the young generation of mountain valleys of Karakoram and Hindukush in cultural areas of Gilgit, Hunza and Chitral. Today the need for spreading the sufi message of universal brotherhood, love and forbearance is far more seriously felt in our society facing threats of violence, extremism and intolerance.
Bazm e Liqa attracts and inspires especially the youth of the area towards the unifying teachings of Sufi Masters of Central and South Asia through the powerful medium of traditional music and wisdom filled poetry. In these gatherings a combination of Urdu, Burushaski and Persian mystical poems composed by famous sufi poets like Nasir Khusraw, Allamah Nasir al-Din Nasir Hunzai, Mawlana Rumi, Shams Tabrizi and hafez shirazi are recited in sequence of singing and dancing. Towards the climax of the presentation, strong thoughts and feelings of humility, ecstasy, oneness and brotherhood are experienced. The group also performs certain cultural items.
The main objectives of Bazm e Liqa include: Preserving and transferring Mystical Music traditions to new generation, introducing the elements of spiritual enlightenment in today’s society of Material Intelligence, building bridges with other National and International communities through Cultural Exchange, engagement of youth in creative and constructive activities, promoting and preserving indigenous cultural items of the area etc.
